Description

Rubab is a tissue pheran suit set in puff tilla: a loose, straight Kashmiri pheran cut with wide sleeves and side pockets, a dense paisley-and-floral panel at the neckline, and scattered buti across the organza dupatta.

Pheran Silhouette — A relaxed straight cut with wide sleeves and front side pockets.
Neck Panel — A notched round neckline opens into a deep panel of paisley, floral vine and medallion motifs that tapers to a point.
Embroidered Pockets and Cuffs — Puff tilla borders edge the side pockets and cuffs, with buti on the lower sleeves and a single tulip motif on the back.
Organza Dupatta — Scattered paisley buti, a scalloped edge and pearl drops along the hem.
High-Sheen Tissue — Tissue catches the light across the pheran and the salwar, which has an embroidered paisley border at the ankle.

Stylist Tip

Jewellery: The neck panel already reads as a necklace, so keep to earrings. Oxidised silver or polki jhumkas with pearl drops pick up the champagne tilla and the pearls on the dupatta.
Dupatta Drape: Pin the organza on one shoulder and let it fall long, so the scattered buti and pearl-drop hem stay visible instead of slipping back.
Colour by Occasion: Salmon Peach, Powder Blue, Lavender and Mint Green look soft and luminous in daylight. Lime Green and Cyan are brighter and hold up under evening lighting.

About the Craft
Tilla is a Kashmiri technique in which fine metallic thread is laid on the surface of the fabric and couched down with a second thread. Puff tilla builds the metal up in tight coils and loops, so the work stands raised off the fabric and casts its own small shadows. On Rubab, champagne-gold puff tilla fills the neck panel with paisleys, florals and vines, runs as a coiled border around the pockets and cuffs, and repeats as single buti on the back and across the organza dupatta. Worked on a pheran, the garment Kashmir has worn through its winters for generations, the embroidery dresses up a traditional shape for festive occasions.

Each piece is made to order, so there are small variations from one piece to the next.
